God be he exalted says: (Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning) [Surat Al-Baqarah, verse: 19]. Is there darkness, thunder and lightning in the rainstorm? We understand from the previous verse that there are clouds in the sky that contain darkness, thunder and lightning, but what does the science say?

Scientists found that the atmosphere contains high cumulus clouds with height of more than 10 kilometers; the center of these clouds is dark even in broad daylight!! And in its center, there are flashes of lightning that happens inside these clouds (in the area of differences of electrical charges). And the lightning which we don't see on earth generates the thunder also. That is why the Quran described what happens inside the cloud with an amazing accuracy: darkness, thunder and lightning. And scientists didn't discover this except at the end of the 20th century, so Glory to God!
