Scientists say that the mountains contribute to the purification of fresh water which we drink, and also contribute to the rainfall and the formation of clouds, and they are also considered an important source of water. This scientific fact referred to by the Quran fourteen centuries ago when the Glorious Quran told us about fresh water and its relationship to the super mighty mountains. Allah the Almighty stated in the Glorious Quran AL-MURSALAT (THE EMISSARIES, WINDS SENT FORTH) 77:27, 'And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (fresh and wholesome)?' The Glorious Quran referred to high mountains, and the fresh water which is acceptable taste. It is indeed an astonishing miracle of the Glorious Quran that is worthy of pondering upon.
