One of the incidents that has occupied the public opinion lately is that of the American man who shot his family before shooting himself after losing his job and despairing. This man killed his wife and five of his children and then killed himself. Let’s contemplate the consequences of turning away from God. Had this man trusted God, the creator, he wouldn’t have done such a destructive thing. Miraculously, in merely one verse, the holy Qur’an gives us hope; Allah says:

Kill not your children

For fear of want: We shall

Provide sustenance for them

As well as for you.

Verily the killing of them

Is a great sin.                                               

 Israa’ or the Children of Israel: 31

This verse is sufficient to make man patient and help him tolerate the severest conditions and not despair from the mercy of Allah.
